Two New CDs Feature Orchestral Music of Meira Warshauer

Albany Records is proud to announce the release of Meira Warshauer’s

Streams in the Desert (Troy 973), three works for orchestra, chorus and

soloists inspired by the Torah. Repertoire includes Shacharit (Sabbath

Morning Service) with Stephanie Gregory, soprano; Michael Hendrick,

tenor; and Carol Potter, narrator; Like Streams in the Desert for

Orchestra; and Ahavah (Love) with Jennifer Hines, mezzo-soprano. Kirk

Trevor conducts The Slovak Philharmonic Chorus and The Slovak Radio

Symphony Orchestra.

Meira Warshauer has devoted much of her creative output to Jewish themes

and their universal message. As she writes, “The Torah, Jewish teaching

and tradition, is likened to water. It is the source of blessing and

goodness, filling all who drink from its well with the knowledge of God.

I hope this recording will help to satisfy our thirst and encourage us

to continue opening our hearts to the Eternal Spirit in each of us.”

Warshauer also writes: The Sabbath Morning Service is a spiritual

journey of praise, revelation, prayer, and exultation. Shacharit is a

personal expression of this journey. It emanates from my soul’s yearning

to relate something of the awe and beauty I feel in the presence of the

Holy One… Like Streams in the Desert was commissioned and premiered by

the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Neal Gittleman, Music Director, , to

recognize the 50th anniversary of the state of Israel. It is inspired by

Psalm 126, whose theme is the return of exiles to Zion… Ahavah uses a

text from Deuteronomy which asserts the need for morality and love in

sustaining life on earth.”

Distributors, 915 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207 - 1.800-752-1951.

Yes! for clarinet and orchestra has been released as part of

Perspectives, a 2-CD set from MMC Recordings (MMC2162). The piece,

recorded by Richard Stoltzman and the Warsaw National Philharmonic

conducted by Jerzy Swoboda, was inspired by the vibrancy and energy of a

Rolling Stones concert that composer Warshauer attended in 1995. Much of

her music is inspired by Jewish themes or references, but this piece

represents her “American” side. More about this release at
