Dear friends and colleagues,
I am so very excited about the release of Streams in the Desert (Troy 973): Music for orchestra and chorus inspired by the Torah with Albany Records. This CD represents years of work, with love and prayer, hoping to communicate to the world some of my deepest feelings of devotion and service. I was so blessed to collaborate with amazing performers, Kirk Trevor and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonic Chorus, vocal soloists Stephanie Gregory, Jennifer Hines and Michael Hendrick, and narrator Carol Potter.
Kirk has made hundreds of recordings and brought that experience along with a sensitive and powerful interpretation of the music. Stephanie has one of the sweetest soprano voices you will ever hear, with a personality to match. Michael Hendrick's tenor is resonant and full, with a tender expressivity. Jennifer Hines's rich mezzo voice makes me feel like I'm inhabiting a beautiful, perfumed cloud. Carol Potter brings a gentle heartfelt quality to the narration, and her voice is one I never tire of hearing.
I guess you can tell that I loved these performers! If that wasn't enough, along came the most wonderful artist, Shoshannah Brombacher, who created a beautiful piece of art for our cover, inspired by hours of listening to this music. She incorporated the Hebrew lettering of the composition titles and imagery you just have to see! Then Albany Records graphic artists designed a CD package with Shoshannah's art that moved me to tears when I first saw it. Of course, I'm a little emotional about this project, as you can tell, but others have also been affected the visual presentation of the CD.
I can't wait for you to hear (and see) this CD! If you do enjoy it, please consider posting a short review on amazon.com. That way, people who don't know me might try listening, too. And if there are others in your circle who you think would like to hear this music, please pass on the information, or consider it for a gift.
With love and good wishes for peace and joy to light up all of our dark nights,

P.S. I want you to be part of my vision for this music. In Shacharit (Sabbath morning service), the most sacred moment is the kedushah, where the angels chant "kadosh, kadosh, kadosh (holy, holy, holy)". When I was writing this music, I imagined the angels calling across the globe, encircling the whole world with holiness and love. That image sustained me in writing the music, and especially in persevering through the many stages of making this recording. With your help, we can truly encircle this globe with holiness and love. May blessings abound in all directions!
P.P.S. If you have a contact with any media who would review this CD or play it on the radio,
let me or Jeff James know-- Susan Bush at Albany Records will be glad to provide CDs for that.
